Michael Bloomberg and Belgian Government Have Focused on Climate Related Financial Risks in Opening Bell Ceremony at Euronext Brussels
Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) chaired by Michael Bloomberg has received an overwhelming support of its’ activities in the face of Belgian Government, Belgian Regulators, pan-European stock exchange Euronext and Euronext Brussels, which was the host of this milestone event.
Belgian Government was the fourth government to support this initiative and Belgian regulator was the 23rd regulator to sign the statement of support.
On this day Climate Related Financial Risks have gained more exposure and attention, so more and more investors will be paying attention at the climate related disclosure and therefore support sustainable development of our planet.
Michael Bloomberg was ringing an opening bell at Euronext Brussels hosted by its CEO Vincent Van Dessel in the presence of Mary Schapiro, Chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, who is one of the world’s most powerful female regulators, Johan Van Overtveldt, Belgian Minister of Finance, Pierre Wunsch, Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Belgium, Jean-Paul Servais, Chairman of the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA), Anne Leclercq, Director Treasury and Capital Markets, Belgian Debt Agency.
With all the Belgian modesty it is little known that Belgium is the third European State to issue Green Bonds, after Poland and France, so it is so far among the leaders in EU in Financial Support of Sustainable Economic Development. Belgium already possesses a large number of listed and unlisted companies that are either fully Circular or Sustainable or are in full transit state. Some of the companies listed on Euronext Brussels are a great example of complete environmental turn around and profitability.
Picking Alpha has addressed to Vincent Van Dassel, CEO of Euronext Brussels with the following questions:
Why is Michael Bloomberg ringing the Bell at Euronext Brussels today?
How is Euronext going to assist its listed companies in implementing Guidelines of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)?
It is no secret that some companies listed on Euronext and Euronext Brussels in particular have already started this transition, do you foresee that they will lead the way for other companies?
