Last year Tuscany Region Government has launched a one of a kind platform. This platform is facilitating the “meeting of farmers’ needs with what technologies in AgTech can offer”, as it was stressed by Fabio Boscaleri, Policy Office, Tuscany Regional Office in Brussels, in order to enhance their implementation process. We say nothing new by stating once more that while the supply of various innovations in AgTech is growing exponentially their implementation (meaning also returns on the invested funds) significantly lags behind. There are a large number of reasons for this to happen. To mention just few of them – the farmers not always see any real benefits in using expensive innovations, they sometimes know nothing about new offers of technologies. Though still the key obstacle is lack of the clear implementation program of AgTech technologies which would address farmers’ needs and possibilities. So, as Fabio Boscaleri pointed out, this “gap” attracted the attention of the Tuscany authorities, (and him being in fact an initiator of creating the Platform in question) and by using the facilities of EC DG Agri platform called S3 AGROFOOD Platform they started their new platform operating on the inter-regional level.
In this interview below Fabio Boscaleri answered 2 very important questions:
What kind of efforts are applied in EU now to collect AgTech technologies and make them available for framers and entrepreneurs?
Do you see the losses in jobs creation with AgTech implementation in EU?
